The major problems encountered in water side of boiler are scaling, deposition due to the salts, impurities present in feed water and pitting type of corrosion due to dissolved oxygen. The main objectives of boiler water treatments are to prevent scaling and corrosion problems and hence to prevent unscheduled shut down. Proper selection of chemicals and sincere application of the recommended chemicals followed by scheduled blow down will ensure complete protection of the boiler against scaling and corrosion problems due to water.
